The Rift Crafting Guide

In this Rift Crafting Guide you'll learn that crafting refers to creating or enhancing items that are used in gameplay. Crafting professions generally depend on materials that are gathered, crafted by other players or bought from NPC vendors. This means crafting professions yield useful items.

Here characters are able to craft items from resources like weapons, runes or potions. Rune crafting is a Rift profession that creates magical runes to boost or add stats to gear and weapons. Runes have a one-use option, though there may be multi-use runes available in the game or with later recipes. The collector's edition of Rift included a multi-use rune that added +3 endurance to a weapon.

Necessities in Rift Crafting

Novice crafters serve as the first trainers in learning about crafting. And every zone you enter you should always look for the novice crafters to prepare you on what to expect. Remember to master this crafting profession, if you decide to unlearn it you will be taken back to square one.

In Rift, professions are not ideal for any one archetype or soul. There are no profession based specials that boost the character stats of the crafter only. You simply need to decide what you want to make, preferably something you can use yourself.

Crafting areas

There are four places where you can craft items and each profession needs you to be at one of the four places. To craft you need to be at a Loom (butchery), a Forge, a Workbench or a Laboratory.

1. Butchery obtains hides, bones and teeth from animal corpses. Butchers can produce leather from hides at a Loom.

2. Foraging collects plants and wood logs, and manufactures planks and lumber from these logs at a Workbench.

3. Mining extracts ore from nodes. Miners can smelt the ore into bars at a Forge.

4. Laboratory: Apothecary creates Flasks, Potions, Philters, Tonics, and Vials.

Collecting Rift crafting Professions

You can gather materials and resources that can be used to create things with manufacturing professions.

- No extra items are required to gather materials.
- Materials can stack up to 50 in one slot.
- Resource nodes share spawn points.
- Patch 1.1 increased the number of Resource Nodes and decreased their ripsaw times

Manufacturing crafting Professions

A. To Manufacture, or refine materials, you must go to a Crafting Station.
B. Nothing besides the recipe and materials are required to Manufacture.
C. Core recipes are gained by buying training from your teacher.
D. More recipes can be bought from NPCs. Some recipes are rewarded from quests.
