Using an Alliance leveling guide, for the 1-85 level range, is a pretty good idea. Especially now when there are so many levels to go through and so much content that can easily distract you. I have been using a leveling guide for some time now and have come to realize some things about them. I decided to share them here, with others, so that they might find it useful and help them decide whether to get one or not.
Using an Alliance leveling guide can make the journey from level 1 to 85 pretty fast. But you have to know something here. When a guide says you can reach the level cap in less than 5 days, it does not mean you will level your character in 4 days or such. That time is /played time. Which is the amount of minutes or hours your character has been online. In reality, it can take you anywhere from three weeks to three months. It depends on how much you play that character each day.
That being said, here are the things I like about using a guide.
1. It is very easy to both install and follow in-game.
- Guides today are completely in-game and very dynamic. At least the one I used had a directional arrow that showed me where my next objective is, and it also auto-updated the steps as I finished them.
2. The leveling path is very well put together.
- In order for a leveling guide to be good, it must arrange the quests in a certain order that allows you to complete more of them in less time. Going to the same place several times to complete quests is just a waste of time.
3. It teaches you more about World of Warcraft.
- Besides helping you level, a good guide will also tell you when you should get your mount and where and also give you tips on which factions you should gain reputation with and so on. So you can learn a lot about the game just by using a good guide.
4. A guide will keep you focused.
- My main problem with WoW was that it had so much content that I usually started doing other stuff rather than level. Well with a guide that won't happen because you will have it to follow and pay attention to.
And now for the things I don't like about using an Alliance leveling guide.
1. It crashes sometimes.
- Being an addon, it will most certainly crash every now and then or develop all sorts of bugs. In worst cases, your game might even freeze up because of them. But then again, every addon has problems like this.
2. They don't have a complete and continuous path.
- In the guides that I used, you had to select the area you want to level in next. Seeing as most of them have several alternatives, it would've been better if the guide just told you which is best.
These are pretty much the good and bad parts of using an Alliance guide from my point of view. Even with their ups and downs, I still find it a lot easier and faster to go from 1 to 85 with a leveling guide.
